Mentors Wanted! How to Become a Mentor?
The Rolling Scopes School is constantly looking for mentors from anywhere in the world to teach everyone who wants to learn JavaScript and the Front-end world. Over the past few years, more than 1500+ people have successfully completed our six-month training program.
Mentoring is for you if you:
- Feel a desire to share your experience and knowledge
- Want to boost your soft skills
- Are looking for beginner developers for your company or project
- Feel a lack of communication
- Want to teach friends/colleagues, but don't have a ready-made curriculum
- or studied at The Rolling Scopes School yourself, and it's time for "Pay It Forward"
What you'll need:
- Desire to help students 馃槉 If you have worked with JS/TS in production for more than 6 months, that's great.
- Desire to mentor 2 to 6 students online or in person
- Ability to devote 3 to 5 hours per week
Mentor Responsibilities:
- Conducting interviews
- Code review of assignments
- Answering students' questions
General Information:
- Mentoring period: 11-13 weeks. In case of vacation, business trip, etc., you can postpone checking assignments or transfer students to another mentor.
- Mentoring Topics: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (TypeScript).
- Format: online
- Perks:
- New knowledge and experience (Teaching someone else is the best way to learn @ The Prot茅g茅 Effect).
- New acquaintances, new opportunities for communication, plus karma points :)
Gentleman's Agreement
Mentors have priority right to hire students they teach to their company/project/team.
Registration
To become a mentor, you need to fill out the form - app.rs.school/registry/mentor
Additional activities for mentors. Strictly at the mentor's own wish :)
- Speaking at meetups.
- Conducting webinars, hosting YouTube Live streams.
- Developing educational assignments and tests.
- Developing school applications and utilities. For example, RS APP.
- Hiring your own students to your company.
- Writing articles for the school blog medium.com/rs-school.
- Mentoring students on their pet projects.
- Helping students in the school's Discord.
- Developing new courses.
- Giving offline lectures in your city (offline streams).
- Your ideas.

Pay it forward
The school works on the principle of "Pay it forward". According to this principle, we expect students who studied at our school for free to come back as mentors to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of students.
